| I've started a new blog that I have complete administrative control over. Best of all, it's open source. I'll still come back here...at least for a while. Meanwhile, feel free to come visit.

| I had a strange dream last night...that I was in NYC at some sort of meeting with a whole lot of youngish techies. We were on our way to an event and taking the subway (underground, to you folks on the other side of the 'pond'). However, it wasn't the usual subway with rail cars; it was more like a series of people movers (moving walkways) through interwoven tubes like worm holes. If you missed stepping onto the next walkway, you could fall down into one of the gaps and it would take forever to get out.
Wonder what the heck was on my mind... | | |
| and our niece's birthday!
This is always a very busy month for us, with 2 birthdays, 1 anniversary, Mother's Day (for a whole bunch of moms in the family) and Memorial Day weekend in May, closely followed by my anniversary in June. Yep, I was a June bride, not that I wanted a June wedding, it just worked out that way. It will also be my goddaughter's first Mother's Day this month!
Cinco de Mayo is a good reason to party in this town, and I don't mind opting for Mexican food, Mariachi music and a reason for a fiesta any time! This is a hugely Tejano community, lots of fun and so very colorful. When I was a kid, our community was largely Italian. So, we had limited help figuring out how to help the few Hispanic kids in our school celebrate the occasion. I remember lots of sarapes, sombreros, and huge crepe paper mums strung in the school auditorium or in the classrooms. All this just a miles from the biggest party in the universe: Los Angeles, LOL!
It's a lovely day; I've signed off work and I'm going to figure out how to spend the rest of my day.
Happy May!

| Tremendous storms brought golf ball to softball size hail. Let's hope we get the flowers!
My Darling Groom has begun the process of registering our daughter with the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution, for you non-Yank readers). Ironically enough, our niece's pre-wedding "rehearsal" dinner was at the DAR building, a replica of George Washington's home. So, in a way, the April showers and Mayflower-ers were oddly connected on this occasion.

| Monday after Easter and it's 90F outside. Not only has the temperature been rising, so has my menopausal weight. I don't get it: I eat very healthfully, and very lightly at that. I'm fairly active (what are the stats on how many people per 100 are training for a marathon?). I think mine is a typical, at least 'normal' level of stress (job, family, husband - lol) and my lifestyle, while not at all my 'ideal,' is not all that bad. My doc says to eat more fruits and veggies. Umm...I don't think my doc quite 'gets' the fact that I'm from California, granola land, we eat so many fruits and veggies we have become them, LOL!
In the book, "French Women Don't Get Fat," Mireille Guiliano, Pres. and CEO of Clicquot, Inc. (as in Veuve Clicquot champagne), promises that, if you follow her plan to eat real food with the joy of a Frenchwoman, you'll be just as trim.
Well...I lived in France a while and certainly did eat real food with much joy. So, today I'm tossing out the 10-day plans and whatever else! Vive la France, le pain et le gateau! I'll probably still feel like a dancing hippo at my niece's wedding this weekend, but, what the heck. It's April and I'm pretending I'm back in Paris, strolling through the Quartier Latin and filling my little canvas shopping bag with delectables from the open market, the patisserie, the boulangerie, the whatever-ie.
bon appetit
